Real Estate Transfer Tax Increases April 1st

A reminder if you are selling a home in Chicago ...

Starting April 1st, anybody who sells a home or piece of real estate in the city of Chicago will owe the city more money.

Earlier this month, the Chicago city council approved a measure that requires the seller to pay an additional $3 per $1,000 as part of the real estate transfer tax.

The additional money collected is part of the CTA bailout deal the state legislature passed recently.

Anne:

Sounds like this tax increase is only for the City of Chicago. Poor people. I also live in Crook County and no one can afford to live a normal life anymore. Things are getting ridiculous. Maybe they should scrap some plans that aren't really important. Plus, teachers are making plenty of money, plus 3 months vacation and plenty of holidays and getting paid for the entire year. They should stop complaining.
