Bigelow hired one of the leading ecologists in the nation to help create a land plan and landscaping plan that would not only help keep rain and other surface water from leaving the community, but more importantly, help filter all surface water before returning back to its ground water source. Two key design elements that will help Bigelow accomplish this goal are the incorporation of bio-swales and rain gardens. Rain gardens also cut back on soil erosion as well as provide a pleasant look and scent to the neighborhood.
